A Team Approach to Healing
Tona Leiseth came to Rasa Ayurveda for group trip last year thru AyurvedaTrip.com. She’d been struggling with health issues for years, and still lacked a diagnosis she could trust. We felt confident that if she extended her stay to focus on her health, we could help her at the very least receive an accurate diagnosis, and quite possibly an improvement in her symptoms as well. So instead of leaving with most of her trip group, she changed her airline ticket, delayed her departure and dedicated herself to her health for a time. We employed our team approach, calling in the expertise of an allopathic OB/Gyn doctor to help with comprehensive modern diagnostic procedures, and applying the wisdom of traditional Ayurveda to help Tona achieve both a healing understanding and positive physical results.
Tona recently wrote her story to share with you here on the Rasa Ayurveda blog.
For three years I had severe abdominal pain. I saw one doctor after another in the U.S. with little feedback and no diagnosis. They told me that they didn’t think anything was wrong with me, but that I may have endometriosis, but they were not sure, and that I needed to have surgery in order to know more. I had nearly given up on the possibility of feeling well, and surgery was not an appealing option. I was frustrated and disheartened and worried about whether I’d be able to conceive of a child when I was ready.
I was began to second guess myself. Maybe the doctors were right, and I was fine Maybe I was being a hypochondriac! But, I knew in my heart and my body frequently reminded me that I wasn’t imagining the pain. I knew that I needed to do something to improve my health, but I didn’t know what to do.
I arrived at Rasa Ayurveda last September. I received an examination by Doctor. She listened. She made my case a priority. Doctor Geetha, Niika and Sanju made me feel as if I were in good hands. Niika and Sanju immediately arranged for me to see a doctor at the local hospital. I was amazed. Traditional and alternative medical doctors working together? Wow! What a concept.
The hospital took an ultra sound, and a few blood tests. The work up was inexpensive and thorough. The hospital then told me that I had Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, that I didn’t need surgery, and that I should see my Ayurvedic doctor to work with my hormone imbalance. I finally had a diagnosis!
Doctor Geetha then formed a pancha karma treatment plan specifically for me. I received internal Ayurvedic medicines and daily treatments with nourishing oils, takra dharas, and herbalized steams. I had people checking on me, feeding me nourishing food, and supporting me. They cared for me as if I were part of their family. I felt loved, safe, and for the first time in three years, I felt hopeful that I would feel better. I had actual help and a support group that wanted me to feel better as much as I did. I am so grateful for my experience at Rasa Ayurveda.
I left Rasa Ayurveda with specific instructions on how to continue my healing process. For 7 months, I didn’t have a single day of pain. I felt rested and strong, and no longer felt fearful of the unknown. I now will occasionally have some cramping, but it is mild and tolerable. My doctor here in the states, says she has never seen anyone with my condition with so few symptoms. She tells me this is remarkable, and that it appears that I will be able to conceive children, due to my body’s ability to heal itself.
I give credit to Rasa Ayurveda for cleansing my body, building strong, healthy tissue, and giving me a new attitude full of hope. My mind is at ease, and my body is grateful. I send love, gratitude and blessings to everyone at Rasa Ayurveda.
